Our Bothy tasting room
There are lots of different kinds of Bothy and our Bothy is located outside a town known as the “little red town” or “Gateway to the Glens” Kirriemuir. Famous for Peterpan (Author JM Barrie lived in Kirriemuir) AC/DC (front man Bon Scott lived in Kirriemuir) Hugh Munro (mountaineer lived in Kirriemuir) and home to many talented artisan producers and of course Gin!
Our Bothy is an auld Smiddy and our tasting room centres around the forge that shod horses till the 1960s and then became a Blacksmiths and joiners workshop. The tin roof building to the back house our offices so it’s really real!
Having moved to this bigger Bothy 2 years ago (we needed more space) we keep uncovering more tales and parts of its past and like all good stories it has weaved its way into the Gin Bothy family.
I hadn’t planned to open a tasting room as we are always batching and busy and to be honest I didn’t think people would be interested in seeing what we did in the Bothy but every day there were people peeking in the windows so we thought we would go for it!
Currently we open the first weekend of every month 11-4 and once you slide back the old steel door you can enter our world of gin!
Our Bothy larder shop houses our award winning Gin range and other larder products we create, Cider, Jam, syrups and chutney and some carefully selected ranges we don’t make but love ie Hipflasks!
The Bothy albeit small can seat 16 guests on our benches and pews and we cosy you up with tartan rugs and sheepskins!
Our tastings include sampling 4 of our creations and you can label your own mini gin.
We are available for private group bookings for up to 16 just let us know what your looking for at Tasting@ginbothy.co.uk
